Job description:

A software development and implementation position is available for young, talented, and independent engineers. The goal is to build a beta version of the backend server of a new website from scratch. Candidate will either work mostly alone on technical elements or in a small team. The ideal candidate needs little handholding and must be ready for a challenge.  The position involves:

• Development of a Java based server that will be the backend of a B2C website
• Ability to start a project from scratch: setting up an environment, Tomcat webserver, mySQL DB, and other project related tasks.
• Implementation of open-source Java libraries and APIs.
• Debugging and testing of own code.
• Organized and architecturally sound code writing. Ability to modularize and minimize dependencies.
• Working independently, requiring little supervision from other developers.

Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree (or pursuing a degree) in Computer Science or related, or equivalent experience.Summary Required Skills:

• 3-5 years Java
• 1-3 years SQL experience
• Good understanding of Object Orientation and Design Patterns
• Apache Tomcat, XML, Java IDEs (such as Netbeans, IntelliJ, etc), SVN
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic understanding of scalability and running times.
• Good English reading and writing skills.

Optional skills:

• Experience using open-source Java libraries and APIs such as Apache Lucene.
• Apache Ant, RSS.
